The atmosphere was charged as Reverend Wilfred Lai (pictured) of Jesus Celebration Centre asked the faithful gathered at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre to shout the name of Jesus seven times. As I shouted 'Jesus' the seventh time my spiritual eyes were opened. I could see clearly the plan that God had for my life. For some few moments, heaven opened and I could see and feel the glory of God. Hastily I started to speak into and through that highway of glory. I spoke breakthrough into my Internet ministry. I spoke breakthrough into my family. I spoke financial breakthrough in my life. I spoke peace and calm into my country, Kenya. As I spoke creatively into various aspects of my life, I heard Reverend Lai yell 'receive the anointing of God now!' My knees felt weak and I was sure I was about to be slain but somehow I managed to stand my ground. I opened my eyes briefly to behold what was unfolding. Men and women lay on the floor smitten by the power of God. Some of them wailed, others just lay there in reverence to the power of God that had filled the auditorium. As I watched their glorious faces, I was convinced beyond any doubt that they too had beheld the glory of God. Reverend Wilfred Lai, the founder of Jesus Celebration Centre (JCC) had come with a group of ministers to Nairobi for a weekend of special meetings. As I passed Kenya's statue of liberty, a bronze sculpture of the first president of Kenya, the late Jomo Kenyatta, I pondered in my mind over the significance of the statue. Kenyatta was a man, though now dead, who had played a key role in liberating Kenya from the colonialists. Bemused, I entered into the KICC plenary hall where the JCC Family Glory Breakthrough Service was being held. For a moment a thought played on my mind: what if Jesus was just a charismatic man like Kenyatta? What if He was only man and not God? I shuddered at the very thought. All hope for man would be gone. But thankfully Jesus was God incarnate. He put on the form of man but He was made of God stock. He was and still is God. And because of that we have the assurance of eternal life. Inside the auditorium, the effervescent Reverend Lai, reading from the Book of John 1: 1-2, said that everything that we see today had a beginning. Although in the beginning the earth was void and without form, the Word was already in existence. God did not begin with things but rather with that which cannot be seen - the Word. Before you can have anything, Lai added, you must first see with your eyes of faith that which is not visible with your physical eyes, and after that speak it! Before you can buy a car or start a blue-chip company, you must see it first with your eyes of faith then speak it into being. Since we are created in the image and after the likeness of God, we possess the same creative power that God had when He said, 'let there be...' and everything that He spoke came into being. That Word, which was God, was manifested in the person of Jesus, in whom there was life. Jesus who became the light of men came carrying eternal life within himself such that anyone who accepts Him into their lives now have the assurance of eternal life in Him. Saying that no one can see in darkness, Reverend Lai stressed that the Light of God need to shine in our lives for the power and anointing of God to be manifested in us. 'This is not the time to tell Bible stories, it is time to receive an anointing for producing fruit', he added. He went on to say that Jesus Christ is the light that causes man to see. Without this light you are as good as blind, however good your physical sight may be. There are things that are not happening in your life because you can't see them. There is no light in your life and therefore you can't see the blessings that God has put in store for you. Like a blind man groping in darkness, you keep stumbling over your blessings. Before any beginning, there must be a Word. That Word will in turn switch on the Light of God and cause you to see that which God had already preordained for you. The beginning of everything is when the lights come on. Then you begin to see, and then to speak things and situations that were not into being. When you realise that God did not make you like your father, your mother, your sister, your brother, etc, but rather he created you after His likeness, then you will understand that He intended you to continue with creation from where He stopped. Reverend Lai implored the believers to allow God to open their eyes of understanding so that they may see what He has already ordained for them. Let the Light of God shine on you and you will begin to see that which you can create. As I walked out of that auditorium, I marvelled at the power and anointing of God working in Reverend Lai's life. In my heart I was asking God to give me that kind of anointing. To fill me with His power so that I too may minister His Word with such an impact. Brethren I can only tell you one thing, revival is not coming tomorrow, it is here already. All you need to do is to look inside and around you and see the awesome things that God is doing. ... break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
